Hi, so glad you stopped by!

My name is Nikki, I am a passionate costume maker from the Netherlands.

When the time came to choose a profession, it wasn’t a hard choice to make. After graduating with a degree in modern dressmaking in 2008, I joined the movie business, followed by musicals and the Dutch National Ballet, where I worked for 7 years.

Making costumes just for work wasn’t enough for me, I wanted to wear those beautiful historical costumes myself too. I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out about the existence of actual costumed events. These so called fantasy events opened up a whole new world for me.

Not only did it open up a whole new world, it changed my life! For it was here in 2011 where I met the love of my life: Melchior.

I feel extremely lucky to be able to share my passion with my partner and travel together to other events.

After submerging myself in the fantasy scene for a few years, I wanted to focus more on historical costumes and events. Since then we have been regular guests at different historical events all over Western Europe.

Our broad interest lies in the 19th century, but as you already may have guessed from this website, my personal obsession is with the 1830s.

After attending all of these events, I had created so many costumes my wardrobe was overflowing and realizing other creators were in the same predicament, the idea of the costume market was born. In collaboration with my sister's company, the first Costume Market debuted in 2019, welcoming beginners as well as experienced costumers. A 2nd even more successful edition ran  in March 2020. We look forward in running this and other events, such as the 1830's soiree, in the future.
